Nasdara (Badlands)

The file is an unmodified copy. Files for Chernarus, Livonia and Sakhal, updated for 1.30 as well, are on the downloads page.

Where the file goes

Badlands is the name of the expansion, Nasdara is the name of the map. The server mission is called dayzOffline.nasdara, so the file belongs here:

mpmissions/dayzOffline.nasdara/db/types.xml
  1. Rename the downloaded file to types.xml.
  2. Back up your current file, then replace it.
  3. Restart the server. The file is only read on startup.

Updating an existing server: the 1.30 release also changed db/events.xml, cfgspawnabletypes.xml, cfgeventspawns.xml and other mission files. If you keep your own copies, compare them with the new vanilla files as well, not only types.xml.

Nasdara vs. Chernarus in numbers

Both files have almost the same list of items (2,411 entries on Nasdara, 2,382 on Chernarus), and about the same number of them actually spawn (1,103 vs. 1,115 entries with a nominal above 0). The difference is in how much of each category the economy keeps on the map. The table adds up the nominal values per category:

CategoryNasdaraChernarusDifference
Clothes10,4697,954+32 %
Tools5,5746,482−14 %
Weapons5,1423,677+40 %
Food1,628831+96 %
Containers1,291767+68 %
Loot dispatch6521,045−38 %
Explosives126129−2 %
All items25,08021,090+19 %

The weapon total counts magazines and ammunition too. Nasdara keeps more of them on the map, but some classic military weapons are rarer than on Chernarus, for example the SVD (2 vs. 4) and the Mosin 91/30 (24 vs. 45).

Items that only spawn on Badlands

158 items have a nominal above 0 on Nasdara and 0 or no entry at all on Chernarus: 95 clothing items, 23 weapons and weapon parts, 14 food items, 9 containers and 9 tools. Examples with their Nasdara nominal:

GroupItems (nominal)
WeaponsLuger (55), Akinaka (45), Glock_Tan (40), MP18 (35), Scimitar (35)
ClothesPoliceShortSleeveShirt (80), BoonieHat_Desert (60), DustGoggles_Black (55), RobeVest_* (50 each), KameezShirt_* (35 each, 14 colors)
FoodAyranBottle (55), Ayran (50), SodaCan_Takola (38), SodaCan_ZumZam (38), SaltyMix (35)
ToolsBrickTrowel (90), MortarMix (75), CommonBrick (70), DonerKnife (55)

Ghillie gear in desert colors (for example GhillieSuit_Desert) is also part of the Nasdara loot.

What does not spawn on Badlands

The other way round, 170 items spawn on Chernarus but have a nominal of 0 on Nasdara. Most of them fit a colder, wetter map:

  • Fishing gear: Hook, FishingRod, Jig
  • Cold weather items: Heatpack, Ushanka_*, WoolGloves_White
  • Chernarus clothing: ChernarusSportShirt, ZmijovkaCap_*, Shemag_*
  • Others, for example Glock19 and PileOfWoodenPlanks

If your players miss one of these, set its nominal and min above 0 and give it a usage and value that exist on Nasdara (see below).

Usage and value tags

Two details matter when you move entries between files:

  • New usage flags. Nasdara uses MilitaryWest (74 items) and MilitaryEast (59 items) next to the regular Military. The Chernarus file does not use either of them.
  • No Tier4. The Nasdara file only uses the values Tier1, Tier2, Tier3 and Unique. Entries copied from Chernarus often have Tier4, so check their value tags.

That is also why you should not simply copy your Chernarus types.xml to a Nasdara server: the Badlands-only items would have a nominal of 0 and never spawn. Start from the Nasdara file and carry your own changes over.

What every tag means is explained in types.xml explained.

Open the Nasdara file in the Loot Editor for DayZ to browse all 2,411 entries as a table, filter by usage or value and change many items at once. It runs in your browser and your files never leave your computer.

FAQ

Where is types.xml for Badlands on a DayZ server?

In mpmissions/dayzOffline.nasdara/db/types.xml. Nasdara is the map of the Badlands expansion.

Can I use my Chernarus types.xml on Nasdara?

It loads, but you lose the Badlands loot: 158 items that spawn on Nasdara have a nominal of 0 in the Chernarus file, and the usage flags MilitaryWest and MilitaryEast are missing. Start from the Nasdara file instead.

Is this the same file as in the server files?

Yes. It is an unmodified copy of the file Bohemia Interactive published on 16 October 2026 for update 1.30.

Do I need to restart the server after changing types.xml?

Yes. The file is read on startup, so changes take effect after the next restart.
